White Plaza, designed by Landscape Architect Thomas Church, is a central feature of the Stanford Campus. It is bounded by the Bookstore, Old Union, the Post Office, Dinkelspiel Auditorium, and Tresidder Student Union.
It features the Memorial Fountain, nicknamed "The Claw," which is surrounded by four male and four female Shamel Ash Trees (Fraxinus uhdei).
White Plaza is a center of activity each noon, with rallies, job fairs, speeches, and information booths. In February and March Flowering Pear (Pyrus kawakamii) create a floral backdrop to activity.
