Student Internships

PSSI/Stanford Recycling offers paid and volunteer internships to help with its mission of a Zero Waste Stanford.  Positions are offered throughout the year.

The goals of the internship program are to give students an opportunity to apply their energy to benefit their community, to gain a deeper understanding about challenges of achieving a sustainable waste-free society, and gain experience in the field of waste reduction, recycling and composting. By creating and maintaining these positions, the Stanford community will be more aware of waste reduction, recycling, and composting methods which will lead to reduced landfilled waste on campus as a whole. Interns will learn organization, communication, public speaking, data analysis, and other skills, which they can apply immediately to their lives and future endeavors.

All positions require a desire to make a difference, some knowledge about waste reduction, recycling, and composting, creativity, dedication, and a smile. Website development (Drupal) and/or video production knowledge particularly helpful.

Interns will be exposed to a variety of opportunities including developing new ways to teach people how to reduce waste, recycle, and compost, giving presentations, collecting and analyzing data, researching best practices, and implementing new programs. Training will be provided.
